Come out and join us on one of our group rides in Austin. For up to date info on special rides, stay tuned to Bat City on Facebook and/or Twitter. Bat City rides are for experienced cyclists who understand that cycling is inherently dangerous and who know how to ride safely in a group. TT/Tri bikes are not allowed on our rides. Please bring the necessary gear you need to change your own flat and always wear your helmet.
Saturday Group Ride
8:00 AM roll out
Red Horn Coffee & Brewing on the SE corner of Parmer & 1431
We roll out together at 8:00 for about an hour of warm up/conversational pace. Our routes have built in fast sections where the stronger riders will pick up the pace going after town signs, fun stretches of road and climbs. These will be described at the pre-ride meeting. One of our sweepers will keep a group ride pace for those not interested in hammering and to scoop up any dropped riders. We generally have one store stop on our rides. This is not a ‘no-drop’ ride and if 70 miles is a distance you may not be in shape for, check out our Sunday ride.
Red Horn opens at 7:00 AM so head in and get a pre-ride espresso or coffee. Check our Facebook Page where we will try to post the Saturday route when possible. Hang out post ride with a delicious beer.
Sunday Group Ride
The Sunday ride is a bit more casual and a smaller group. Route is usually around 60 miles and varies. We maintain a steady pace and usually end up stopping for tacos somewhere. Come early for coffee. Stay late for beer.
Tuesday Race Practice
Definitely not a beginner ride. The route and ride varies. Sometimes a hard smashing of the Volente Loop and sometimes some sprint focused work on our own little crit course. Sometimes we grab pizza and a pint after.
